Green Peas Halwa

Green Peas Halwa (matar ka halwa) is a rich creamy, easy to prepare dish with few ingredients. Halwa is one of the most preferred and deserved Indian dessert. This halwa recipe is quick and easy to make with goodness of green peas, condensed milk and various nuts. Green Peas Halwa is a good source of fibre and potassium. Green peas not only used to add extra punch to curry, also a delicious halwa to satisfy your taste buds.

Ingredients

Gluten free

    1 cup = 250ml : 1 tablespoon = 15ml

    • 2 tablespoon Ghee
    • 1 cup Green Peas frozen
    • 1 cup Condensed Milk
    • Pinch Crushed Cardamom
    • 1 teaspoon Almonds chopped
    • 1 teaspoon Cashewnuts chopped

    Instructions

    • Keep green peas in cold water until thawed. Thaw green peas submerging them in cold water or run cold water over peas until thawed. Green peas will be ready to use in just 5 minutes.
    • Grind peas to coarse paste. Add little water if necessary while grinding.
    • Heat ghee in a pan on medium heat.
    • Now add ground green peas paste and mix until well combined.
    • Add 1 cup condensed milk to the green peas mixture
    • Mix until condensed milk is well combined with green peas mixture.
    • Keep stirring until halwa is dense and reaches the desired consistency.
    • Now add crushed cardamom, chopped almonds, chopped cashew nuts.
    • Mix until well combined and turn off the heat.
    • Rich and delicious green peas halwa is ready to serve.

    Notes

    Green peas halwa can be served hot or chilled.
    Add more ghee while cooking if you think halwa is dry.
    Add any dry fruits of your choice.
    Taste the halwa mixture and adjust condensed milk as per your preferred sweetness.
    Frozen green peas can be substituted with fresh green peas.
    Cook fresh green peas until soft before grinding.
    If you use frozen peas, thawing it is enough, no need to cook before grinding.
